I worked in the lab as part-time undergraduate researcher for almost 9 months and I can only think of positive outcomes that this research experience brought to me. All my accomplishments in the robot learning project converge in the paper we are finishing, I’m so grateful for the opportunity I had to test our hypothesis with real participant data and I reiterate my willingness to help in any way needed from me before the submission of the paper. This is a list of things I get to put on my resume after this experience:
- Helped data analysis for a 5-person team on a human-robot collaboration study (medication retrieval context), e.g., running experiments for 32 participants (288 trials) and building an analysis pipeline with Python (data cleaning), Label Studio (video coding), and JASP (Bayesian statistical analysis and visualization)
- Helpred behavior analysis of machine learning models ACT (Action Chunking Transformer) and Diffusion, identified a preliminary 36% task success drop due to policy opacity and participated in the proposal of a novel Contextual Robot Intent Explanation (CRIE) system
- Assembled four robotic arms (SO-101 follower and SO-100 leader models from the LeRobot repository on Hugging Face) and closed 10+ GitHub issues related to testing and system integration

I’m Miguel Mateo Osorio Vela, a Computer Science student at the University of South Florida, expecting to graduate in May 2026. Bilingual in English and Spanish, I combine technical programming expertise in C/C++, Python, and Java with practical experience in data analysis. My professional background includes developing Microsoft Power mobile applications as an IT intern at MUMA Mobiliario, where I created solutions that streamlined operations for approximately 100 workers, and serving as an Undergraduate Mathematics Tutor at Florida College. My technical portfolio features an economic analysis project where I applied the Leontief Input-Output Model to analyze U.S. economic sectors using Python, NumPy, Pandas, and Plotly.
