Hi! My name is James Yab. I am a senior majoring in Computer Science at the University of South Florida. I’m excited to bring my skills and enthusiasm to the RARE Lab.
My passion and interest lie in software engineering, human-robot interaction (HRI), augmented reality (AR), and AI. I’m committed to making meaningful contributions in these fields while collaborating with my talented peers. Currently, I am working on a project that uses AR to simulate virtual robots for HRI studies, aiming to explore alternatives to physical robots in research.

My time at the RARE Lab was an incredibly enriching experience filled with growth and meaningful challenges. The RARE Lab has given me the unique opportunity to have hands-on experience with ROS, augmented reality with the HoloLens, Unity, Vuforia, mixed reality, and computer networking.
During my time in the lab, I tackled a wide range of exciting robotics and human-robot interaction challenges, including ROS network communication, collision avoidance, and navigation, among others.
I would like to thank the RARE Lab team for the guidance and unforgettable learning experiences. I will carry these memories with me as I continue on my path and will always be grateful for the time spent here!
