Hello, my name is Jackson Nguyen. I am a sophomore mechanical engineering student at the University of South Florida with an interest in mechatronics. Some of my technical skills are programming in Python, MATLAB, and AutoCAD.
At the lab, I’m excited to dive into human-robot interaction research, looking at how robots can be designed to interact with people in everyday environments. I look forward to contributing to experiments that will make an impact on the daily lives of people interacting with machines, collaborating with the team, and growing as both a researcher and engineer.

During my time with the RARE Lab at USF under Dr. Zhao Han, I contributed to the lab’s 3D printing and modeling efforts, working extensively with FDM printing to produce prototypes and components for ongoing research for the robot “Bloom.” I also developed and ran simulations using Onshape to support design validation and iteration and helped organize lab resources and workflows to keep projects running smoothly.
It’s been a great experience being part of this team, and I’m grateful for everything I learned along the way. Thanks to Dr. Han and the rest of the lab for the opportunity—I’m excited to see where the lab’s work goes next!
